kitchen action

I got me some renewed cooking (and baking) energy. I don't know from where. Before the past couple of weeks, I had zero motivation to cook at home, so this is a good thing. Though, I notice that I go through phases of wanting to cook and not wanting to cook -- I have sort of a culinary bipolar disorder thing going on. Go figure.

Anyway, here's all the action my kitchen has been seeing this week:
(I've linked some of these to the recipes I followed. The rest, I improvised.)

dutch baby

Dutch babies

Broiled rosemary chicken fillets + basmati and wild rice pilaf + arugula salad

Stovetop-grilled all-beef sausages + fire-roasted veggies with balsamic butter (from frozen, but brilliant nonetheless)

Banana cake

Hainanese chicken (with accompanying garlic rice, soup and dipping sauce)

Soba noodle soup (with vegetables, mushrooms, fish cake and hard boiled egg)

Black beans, salsa, poached eggs on rice (inspired by Heirloom)

Chicken tinola

Savory whole wheat crepes with fresh mozarella, tomatoes, garlic and red pepper flakes

Fried fish fillets with a cornmeal crust + insalata caprese + brown rice

fish fillet + insalata caprese
Right now, there's bread baking in the oven, and spaghetti meat sauce waiting to be prepared for dinner. I'm on a roll.
