daddy and his hi-fi
Here is a photo* I have never seen before of Daddy, taken sometime in the 1960's, in his clinic (growing up, we called this room the "office" in the old San Dionisio house, before that, I heard it was Lolo Pio's "chess room"), posing in front of the hi-fi stereo he had told me so much about when I was a kid. There are so many details in the photo that I love -- other than the cool stereo cabinet, of course -- such as the fact that the windows didn't yet have those (hideous, in my opinion) iron grills; the medicine cabinet was in fact an actual medicine cabinet (I had always only seen it used as a china display cabinet); and that Daddy is wearing such fashionable shoes! If I am not mistaken, this stereo cabinet was still in the house when we lived there, though it was repurposed into a simple (very midcentury modern!) credenza. That turntable lived in his closet for a time until it was no longer there.
*Awesome vintage photo found by my cousin, Oton Santiago. Thank you so much for sharing it, Kuya Oton!

Looking at this photo side by side with your profile pic, I thought you had your dad's smile! And goodness me, Sunsh, I teared up!
